Ella-Noise!!

This s a FABULOUS picture of Ella playing hard (as she always does!) against the St. Louis Athletica. (Of course, whenever I see her play, I want to chant the old, U-R-B!! A-N-A!! that we always yelled at UHS games!)

Author! Author!

Granny Slash (aka Mom/Fern/Grandma/GreatGrandma, hence the name) had a book signing at Barnes and Noble this month. Curt and I just had to go take a peek, buy some of her books, and get them signed. We were both very proud of her.

Congratulations, Mom!

Classics - Connections!

My students have come to absolutely love the Children's Classics Project. They read one of their choice each semester, then write a report on it and do a project. I get some AMAZING projects brought into my classroom! We all love presentation days.

One student had just completed his presentation on The One Hundred and One Dalmatians and the students were offering feedback, questions, and comments. NT, a fourth grade girl, raised her hand and said,

"You have really inspired me with this book. My dream is to decorate the bedrooms in my future home in the classics, each room reflecting one book. I plan to use this book as one of them."

I could hardly believe what I had just heard. Wow!!

Shout out to Curt who has been accepted to Purdue University and is now a Boilermaker!! Let's see, his Great Grandfather Honeywell was a Horticulture professor, Grandpa and Grandma Martin both are Purdue grads, his Dad has two degree at Purdue and I did two years there before transferring to Illinois...

That makes Curt a 4th generation Boilermaker. Boiler up!!
