Legos are one of the best toys ever created - kids (and adults) can design endless things using the blocks.
Lisa had brought a shield from her classroom for the kids to play with, and Ian wanted a "battle." Using Legos, she created her own shield to use for defense.
Mila created a little tableau of a boat and a village.
Next, we went outside to enjoy the beautiful summer weather.Lukas (who was up from his nap) spied the bocce ball set and wanted to play with it.
He showed us an interesting throw from the side.
Clearly he is practicing for the bocce tournament next 4th of July at Aunt Jenny's home.
And doing pretty well, too!
Lukie also enjoyed playing lawn darts for a while, too.But the REAL fun began when Aunt Lisa brought out the water balloons.
We went through her supply very quickly. (No surprise.)
When the water balloons were gone, Boompa used the bucket they'd been in to continue the water fun.
Mila and Ian both got drenched!
Aunt Lisa showed Ian the joys of jumping over a running sprinkler.I think this is one of my all-time favorite summer pictures ever - it captures to joy of being a kid and playing in water on a hot summer day.
In addition to the water balloons and sprinkler, we used a pitcher to throw more water at each other.
Mila also filled a water bottle and took off after her Boompa with it.
This is my other favorite summertime photo. Don't they look happy?
