Notes from Former Students

I received some thank you notes from two of my former students who graduated from high school this past May. Both were three-year kiddos (2nd, 4th, and 5th grades).

Their notes were heartfelt and very touching.
When I first met Drew, I used to confuse him with another student in the class, hence the nickname I gave him, "Drew, Drew, the true Drew."
This one is from "Merry, Merry, Merry, Merry Meredith." (My kids will recognize the Captain Kangaroo/Christmas song reference in her nickname!)

In the day to day of teaching, sometimes I wonder if I am making a difference. I think I do, and I hope I do, but sometimes I cannot help but wonder if all the time and effort I put into my classroom touches a life or two. Graduations are an opportunity to step back and see the bigger picture. Drew and Meredith have both underscored that point for me.
