Sunday night we practiced for the tournament a bit after dinner.
It was a little hard since we had a cute ball chaser....
... who kept retrieving balls for us before we were done throwing!
I began cooking and baking early Tuesday morning. I had planned on just making a Texas sheet cake for the potluck, but Curt had asked me if I was going to make potato salad. Of course!
As I was peeling the eggs for that, they were coming out of their shells really well, so I decided to cook some more and made deviled eggs - something else Curt loves. (So do I. Plus, they are keto-friendly, so Craig can eat them. Win-win!)
After the pitch-in lunch at Jenny's, we gathered on the lawn for instructions from Curt.
Ten of us were participating, including five from my side of the family.
Chances were good that one of us would bring the trophy home, then!
Lisa took out Vanessa (who was the winner of the very first bocce tournament five years ago.)
I was paired up against Curt - I was pretty sure I was going to lose.
And I was right!
But I am okay losing to my son. (Or anyone else, for that matter.)Craig lost to a friend of Jenny's from her garden club. And that was the end of round one.
Lisa faced her Aunt Jenny in round two.
There was some trash talking between the two, but Lisa ended up losing.
Curt faced another of Jenny's friends, Paul, in the second round.
It ended with Aunt Jenny winning the family bocce trophy! She was very excited about that, needless to say. Paul came in second, with Curt third, and Nancy (another of Jenny's friends) placing fourth.
