We Have a Creek!

Our part of Indiana has been getting some hard rains; unusual for this time of the summer! Yesterday we had a 10% chance of rain in the forecast. I noticed after lunch that the skies to the north of us were becoming very black, and sure enough, the downpour began soon after.
It rained so hard, we got our own creek!
That's happened occasionally in the past, but not for a long time.
And I had never seen it as wide as it was in the spot above.
Luckily, it drained fairly quickly, but that meant the real creek and lakes in the neighborhood were inundated and running high. I know some of our neighbors had water in their basements as a result of the heavy downpour we'd had, and that's no fun.

Our kitchen mat by the back door was wet - the angle of the rain coupled with how furiously it had come down had enabled the water to get through a tiny opening in the seal at the bottom of the door.

And more rain is expected today.
