An Enduring Tradition

My mother began a tradition of gifting my children with Christmas ornaments every year when they were little. The idea was that, when they became adults in homes of their own, they'd have a ready-made collection of ornaments with fond ties to the past.

Great idea, and one I have continued. I give the ornaments out at Thanksgiving to the grandchildren who are present and then mail the others.

I work hard to tailor the ornaments to each grandchild's interests.
Braden, an avid Cub Scout, hangs his Boy Scouts of America ornament.
Here's a closer look at it.
Addie loves princesses and the movie Frozen so she got Elsa...
... while Corinne, also a princess/Frozen lover, received Anna.
The movie only has two princesses, so Whitney's ornament was Olaf, the lovable sidekick snowman in the film.

Cambria got Olaf, too, but not only because she is one of the quads and hers would match Whitney's.
Titan was given this cute snowman, and I thought it would be fun if he and his sister matched matched, too.

Last fall Emily posted a video of Julie at a store and naming all the characters in one of her favorite shows, a spinoff of Mr. Roger's Neighborhood.
It took some looking, but I finally found a Daniel the Tiger ornament on Etsy for her.

Ian was easy - he loves trains, especially Thomas the Tank.
No brainer!!

Sarah sent me pictures of her crew opening my box.
 JC got box duty.
 Yep, Grammy packs well!
The girl who plays the harp got a harp ornament. (I had to look hard to find a nice one - most were kind of cheesy or stylized and not elegant.)
A drum set for JC who is a budding percussionist.
