School Shootings

Wednesday we had an area-wide lockdown because some fool made unspecified threats to shoot up a school. Yesterday, Sarah had the real deal, waaaay too close to home. (At a school 15 miles away in Centennial, Colorado.)

Just as had happened during the Hershey lockdown, a family texting chain began as the incident unfolded.

Here is the Hershey chain with my text to my family.

The next picture finishes the Hershey chain (the green boxes are my texts) and Sarah begins her chain about the shooting in Centennial two days later on Friday in the box after that.

This is Friday's text chain that Sarah began. I hadn't even heard that there had been a school shooting.

(Those last two texts were from Todd about something else.)

Running through my mind though, is the fact that the Denver metro area has had three shootings. THREE!! Columbine (just a few miles from Centennial), the movie theater in Aurora (the town Sarah and Todd now reside in), and now this in Centennial, just a few miles from their home.

And, on a related note, two years ago, Todd had just left a mall in Seattle when a shooter began killing people in that very mall.

What is happening to our country?
