OIT Therapy for Braden

A few weeks ago, I had never even heard of OIT. (Oral Immunotherapy Treatment.) The premise is that the person with the allergy begins a series of controlled doses of tiny amounts of the allergen, increasing the dosage as tolerated over time, allowing the person to build up immunity.

Braden is currently undergoing treatment at a clinic in Utah that has a nearly 100% success rate with OIT. The hope is that he will be able to tolerate milk in small amounts and be able to live without the constant danger of a severe allergic reaction. (And Braden is off the charts in his measurements for milk allergy.)

Kyle took his family out to Utah last week (they're staying with Ashley's parents during the treatment) and Braden had his first treatments last week.

Braden is very excited and a little nervous, but very, very brave and hopeful.

The whole family had a fast for him last week, and Craig and I are keeping him on the temple prayer roll as well as in our prayers.

It will be  along haul - six to eight months. Kyle had to return to Florida for his job, but will return for visits as much as possible.
